A Day out in Lancaster with your Housemates

AsherLancaster Student Life

By now, most of you should be fully settled into your off-campus student home and know the people you’re living with and the area well. However, we know that may not be the case for everyone. So, whether you want to get to know your housemates better or just want to enjoy a day out in town, here at Escape Campus we have put together a list of all the fun things to do in Lancaster with your housemates! Lancaster may be small, but being home to two universities means that there are plenty of fun things to do in the city centre.

Lancaster Escape Rooms

Lancaster has its own set of escape rooms, with four different options of varying difficulty. It also has a brand-new escape room located up at Lancaster university! Escape rooms will put your friendship with your housemates to the test- will you work together to escape? Or will the teamwork crumble? Located in the town centre, the escape rooms are one thing you need to try while living in your student home in Lancaster.

Axe Throwing

Based at Kanteena, right in Lancaster centre is The Flying Axe Factory! Axe throwing is the perfect way to spend some time with your housemates (and relieve some pent-up university stress). Starting at £18 per person this may be a slightly pricey activity for our Lancaster students, however, we’re almost certain it’ll be worth the cost. Also included in this price is a 20% discount on your food and drinks bill at Kanteena after you’re done throwing. It doesn’t matter if you’re a complete novice or have done this before, everyone is welcome.

Theatre

Lancaster is home to 2 lovely theatres. If you’ve never visited either it’s most certainly something to add to the list. As students living in Lancaster, we’re sure that you will have walked past both The Grand Theatre and The Dukes Playhouse numerous times. As well as being a theatre, The Dukes Playhouse is also a cinema showcasing a diverse selection of films ranging from independent releases to major Hollywood blockbusters. The Grand Theatre hosts comedy shows, plays, live music and much more. Located right in the town centre, a night at the theatre with your housemates is the perfect excuse to get out of your student home and head into town.

Lancaster Castle

Lancaster Castle is probably one of the most famous landmarks in Lancaster itself, and if you’ve never visited, it’s a must. Some of you may even be able to see the Castle from your student home in Lancaster centre! With its rich and often dark history, Lancaster Castle makes for a great day out with your housemates. Whether you join a guided tour or explore the grounds at your own pace, you’re bound to uncover captivating stories from Lancaster’s past.
