Morecambe is another fantastic day out, and the best part is that it’s right on your doorstep. Just a 15-minute bus journey or drive from Lancaster city centre, it’s an easy escape when you fancy a change of scenery.
Take a stroll along the promenade, enjoy some fish and chips with a sea view, and don’t forget to visit the iconic Eric Morecambe statue. On a clear day, you can even see across the bay towards Grange-over-Sands.

Preston
If you’re looking to head somewhere different without travelling too far, Preston is a great option. It’s only around 20 minutes by train or 30 minutes by car.

In Liverpool, you can explore the Royal Albert Dock, The Beatles Story, Liverpool ONE and a brilliant mix of independent businesses.
Both cities are around one to one and a half hours from Lancaster, making them popular destinations for students looking for a full day out. Whether you visit on your own or with your housemates, both cities offer plenty to see and do.
