Halloween in Lancaster!

AsherLancaster Student Life

October is a busy month for a lot of people, but for our Lancaster students, it’s even busier! But beyond the new term starting at the University, and settling back into student accommodation, there’s a bigger event looming… Halloween!

We don’t need to tell you, but Halloween is one of the most popular times of the year, and it’s no exception in Lancaster! We’ve put together a list to help you get into the spooky season, including some things you can do at home on a budget, and other events for you to enjoy around Lancaster.

Halloween Trail

Now we know this one may be geared for a younger audience, but it’s still a bit of fun! If you’re out and about in Lancaster centre, keep an eye out for the spooky stories that have been hand-painted onto the windows of various businesses across the town centre. For those of you who don’t know Lancaster very well, this is the perfect opportunity to wander around the Lancaster city centre and explore everything it has to offer. There is a map if you do want to follow the whole spooky trail, which can be found here.

Movie Marathon

If you prefer to stay in on Halloween, why not have a scary movie marathon with your housemates? Turn your Lancaster student accommodation into a spooky cinema and binge-watch all the classic horror movies! For some inspiration on what to watch click here.

Make some spooky Halloween-themed treats and settle down for a chilled night. To make it feel even more Halloweeny, why not take a trip out of your student accommodation and into town to purchase a pumpkin? Perfect for our Lancaster students, pumpkins aren’t expensive to buy and are lots of fun to carve!

Horror Festival

For those of you who love horror, the Dukes Play House is running a horror festival called Dark Dukes for the duration of Halloween week! Featuring cinema, theatre, crafts and workshops celebrating all things horror, it’s a perfect way to spend your Halloween. Located in the town centre, the Dukes should only be a short walk or bus journey away from your Lancaster student accommodation. For all our Lancaster students wanting to make the most of all things spooky, the Dark Dukes Horror Festival is going to be a highlight. We know that, as students, finding fun things to do without breaking the bank is important, and luckily for you, the tickets for the Horror Fest start at only £3.50 per ticket!

Halloween Ghost Walks

One of Lancaster’s most popular Halloween events (and frankly all year round) is the Ghost Walks. During this 90-minute experience, you’ll spend your evening walking through Lancaster’s dark history, so watch out for any spooky interactions! Starting out at Dalton Square (perfect for those of you in student accommodation right in Lancaster centre), prepare to spend your night exploring Lancaster’s most murky spots, including Lancaster Castle! If you’re feeling brave, this event is not one to be missed!

Whatever you decide to do this Halloween, here at Escape Campus, we hope you have a great time! Remember to stay safe and (and a little bit spooky!)
