What’s on in Lancaster this Summer!

AsherLancaster Student Life

We know that for many of you, the academic year has come to an end. That means you’ll soon be packing up your room in your student home, moving out, and getting ready to enjoy your summer break. But for those of you staying in Lancaster over the summer period, here’s everything you need to make the most of the break, and the (hopefully!) beautiful weather.

Summer Sundays

Starting every Sunday from mid-July until the start of September there’s going to be live entertainment all day in Market Square. For those of you who live in the town centre (looking at you Church Street), you may be lucky enough to be able to hear the entertainment from the comfort of your student home! Don’t worry though, it doesn’t go on too late. You’ll be able to listen to live music, watch performances and even pick up some circus skills. There’ll be deck chairs placed all around market square so the public can sit back, relax and experience the show. If the weather is nice enough, this could be the perfect opportunity to leave your Lancaster student home, soak up some sunshine and enjoy some free live entertainment.

Dukes Play in the Park

Located up in Williamson Park, the Dukes are once again putting on another fantastic open-air show running from the 19th July – 25th August.  This year’s show is Alice in Wonderland, where marvellous madness awaits! This immersive theatrical experience is sure to be a hit with everyone, where guests will go on a ‘kaleidoscopic journey through Williamson Park’. For all of our Lancaster students living off-campus in South Lancaster, this show is within walking distance of your student home, and if you can attend, it’s not one to be missed.

Set up at Williamson Park, one of Lancaster’s most picturesque and popular spots, this year’s play encourages audiences of all ages to come along, have some fun, and immerse themselves in the marvellous madness!

Vintage by the Sea

Now we will admit that this event isn’t exactly in Lancaster, it’s taking place on the promenade in Morecambe. With beautiful views along the bay and the beach right there, we promise that it’s worth attending. Running the final weekend in August, the Vintage by the Sea Festival is popular both with locals and tourists. With the stunning backdrop of Morecambe Bay, enjoy a weekend of live music and dance performances, classic cars, workshops and street food! Vintage by the Sea has been going in Morecambe for the last 10 years, and as this is a significant milestone for the event, it’s set out to be bigger and better than ever! There’s sure to be something at this event that suits everyone’s needs and tastes. Whilst Morecambe Bay might not be within walking distance of your Lancaster student home, we promise it’s just a short bus or train journey away!
