Make the most of Spring in Lancaster!

AsherLancaster Student Life

Spring is a great time of year, especially for students living in Lancaster. As the weather starts to brighten and the days get longer, the city really comes to life. It is the perfect time to get out of your student home and make the most of everything Lancaster has to offer.

Whether you are new to the area or have been living in Lancaster student accommodation for a while, spring is a great opportunity to explore more of the city and enjoy a change of pace.

Lancaster’s Great Outdoors

Lancaster is lucky to have plenty of green spaces that look their best in spring. One of the most well-known spots is Williamson Park. If you have not visited yet, it is definitely worth adding to your list.

With walking routes, open green spaces and views across the city and out towards the bay, it is a great place to spend a few hours. The Ashton Memorial is also a standout feature and a popular spot for photos (I bet most of you can even spot it from your Lancaster student home). You could head up for a picnic, go for a walk or simply take some time out from uni life.

The Lancaster Canal is another great option. In spring it is at its best, with plenty of people walking or cycling along the towpath. If you have a bike, it is a great route for a relaxed ride.

Make the most of the Sun

We all know the north of England is not always known for great weather, but when the sun does come out it is worth making the most of it.

Swap the library for somewhere outdoors and take your work to a park, courtyard or one of Lancaster’s many cafés. A change of environment and a bit of fresh air can do a lot for your mood and focus, especially during busy periods at uni and exam season.

Explore More of Lancaster

Lancaster may be small, but there is still plenty to see and do. Whether you are based on campus or in Lancaster city centre student accommodation, take the spring weather as the perfect opportunity to explore a bit more.

The city centre regularly hosts markets and local events, particularly around Market Square. It is a great place to pick up food, browse stalls or just enjoy the atmosphere. You might even find something new you have not come across before.

Go Further Afield

One of the benefits of living in Lancaster is how close you are to other great locations.

Morecambe Bay is just a short bus or car journey away and is well worth a visit on a sunny day. The views across the bay and along the promenade make it a great spot for a relaxed afternoon.

The Lake District is also within easy reach. It takes a bit longer to get there, but the scenery, walking routes and lakes make it more than worth the trip.

Living in Lancaster centre student accommodation means your location is bound to be great as you’re such a close distance to so many cool destinations!
