Preparing for the Winter Break

AsherGeneral Student Living

As the first academic term of university is coming to an end and Christmas is getting closer, plenty of Lancaster students will either be starting to head back home for the winter break or will be staying here in Lancaster student accommodation. So here at Escape Campus, we’ve put together some ideas on how to make the most of your time off this Christmas and everything you need to know about your winter break.

Make time for yourself

December is known as the most wonderful time of the year, a time for family, friends, and celebration. But for many, it can also be a tough time. It’s dark, cold and can be extremely stressful, so this December don’t forget the importance of making time for yourself.

Having time away from your studies is the perfect opportunity to relax and unwind either with friends or by yourself. Make sure to do something you enjoy no matter how small; this could be taking a walk, have a self-care day or spending some time with your loved ones. Looking after your mental health this winter is so important, make sure to remember that, and that it’s okay to make yourself a priority.

Take part in some fun Christmas Activities

For those of you staying in your Lancaster student accommodation over Christmas, check out our recent blog post on all the exciting things Lancaster has in store for you this winter break, from ice skating to Christmas markets you’re sure to be impressed. Also, check out Lancaster University’s students’ union events calendar here to keep up to date with everything going on this winter on and off campus.

If you’re going back home during the Christmas break then don’t worry, some of the events in Lancaster are going on until January! So, you may be able to enjoy some events when you return to your student home in the New Year. Also, if you don’t want to miss out, you can always look for local winter events around where you live.

For those of you who prefer to stay inside and out of the cold, why not have a Christmas movie marathon, bake some Christmas cookies/cakes or decorate your home? Putting up a tree or some bits of tinsel around your student house can make such a difference and get you in the festive mood, especially if you have some festive songs playing in the background.

Getting ready to go Home

If everyone in your household is heading back home for the winter break, remember before heading out to make sure your student home is locked and secure, and we hope you have a safe journey home. For those of you staying in Lancaster in your student home, we hope you have a wonderful break from university and enjoy everything the city has to offer this winter.

Merry Christmas from all of us at Escape Campus and we hope you enjoy your time off!
