Spending Christmas in Lancaster?

AsherLancaster Student Life

We know that not everyone vacates their property for the winter break. So, if you’re spending Christmas in your Lancaster student home, don’t worry. There’s still so much you can do to have a relaxed, cosy, and festive break from university.

Decorate

A lot of students choose to decorate to help them get in the Christmas spirit. Whether this takes the shape of a miniature Christmas tree or tinsel hanging from every corner. We know it may not be what you’re used to at home, but it’s still possible to make your student home feel festive and fun this December. You may even ask your housemates to help you out with some Christmas music playing to get you in the spirit.

Christmas Movie Marathon

The best way to celebrate your newly decorated student home would be to settle in and have a Christmas movie marathon. Whether you’re a ‘Die Hard’ enthusiast or prefer the classics of ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’- get a hot drink and enjoy some festive cheer! This is the perfect activity to do with your housemates or on your own. Don’t forget to nip into Lancaster centre and get yourself some treats- popcorn and chocolate are essential! Plus, when you’re living off-campus in student accommodation, it’s only a short journey!

Cook Christmas Dinner

If you’re feeling brave enough, why not cook a traditional Christmas Dinner? Here at Escape Campus, we understand that Lancaster students may not have plenty of spare cash, but cooking Christmas dinner doesn’t have to break the bank. It also doesn’t have to be stressful; you can split the jobs between your housemates, or do it all yourself if you don’t trust them near the appliances! Creating a kitty to share the costs and splitting it up into manageable stages is the way to go. Click here to read our blog post on simple cooking for your entire student household on a budget.

Student Home Secret Santa

Secret Santa is the perfect way to enjoy Christmas as a household without spending a fortune. Plus, it’s a fun activity to do with your housemates! Stick everyone’s name in a hat, pick out a name (not your own) and get that person a funny/nice/joke gift. You set the limits on how much you want to spend but remember to keep who you’ve bought a gift for a secret.

Wherever you’re spending Christmas this year, whether in Lancaster in your student home or elsewhere, we hope you have a wonderful winter break. We’ll see you all in the New Year!
