Visit Morecambe: A Seaside Gem for Lancaster Students!

AsherGeneral Student Living

Whilst the weather is still lovely, why not take a well-deserved break from revising for your exams and head down to Morecambe? It’s a famous and well-loved seaside town, and one of the most underrated spots in the North West. For those of you who don’t know Lancaster and its surrounding areas very well, Morecambe is located next to Lancaster and is a great place to visit on a nice sunny day. Luckily for all our Lancaster students, it’s only a short bus journey or drive from your Lancaster student home. Whether you need a break from exams, want to explore, or just need to relax, Morecambe is the perfect escape.

Morecambe Promenade

Morecambe Promenade is at the heart of Lancaster and Morecambe, and one of the most popular spots in the area! With stunning views over the bay to Grange-over-Sands, the prom is a great place to clear your head and take a break from the pressure of exam season. If the weather is nice enough, you can even head onto the beach and take a dip in the sea! (Just be warned, as it can be very cold!)

A stroll along the prom is a must for anyone who enjoys a good walk… Plus, it’s the perfect excuse to enjoy some fish and chips!

Watch the Sunset over the Bay

There aren’t many places in Lancaster that offer a sunset quite like Morecambe Bay does (maybe Williamson Park, if you’re lucky!). On a crisp, clear evening, the views across the bay are stunning, and the best part of watching the sunset on the beach is that it’s free, perfect for our Lancaster students on a budget.

Why not visit with your housemates or your partner, grab an ice cream, and enjoy the sunset?

Morecambe Winter Gardens

Morecambe Winter Gardens is one of Morecambe’s most iconic spots, opened in 1897 as a ballroom, theatre, restaurant, and gardens. Since its opening, the theatre has hosted a range of artists: from Vera Lynn to The Rolling Stones.

Visiting the Winter Gardens before finishing Uni is the perfect opportunity for our Lancaster students to learn more about Morecambe’s rich history. It’s free to enter the theatre, but for a small fee you can take a guided tour!

Living in student accommodation in Lancaster town centre means you’re in the perfect location to enjoy the best of both Lancaster and Morecambe. One of the best parts of moving away for university is getting the chance to explore new places. And luckily for our Lancaster students, Morecambe is one of those places you never get bored of. There’s always something to do!

Next time you’ve got a day off, why not head into Morecambe and explore everything it has to offer?
