AsherLancaster Student Life

If you’re staying in Lancaster this summer, there’s plenty going on in and around the city centre to keep you busy! Many students choose to stay in Lancaster, and whether you’re working full time, exploring the city, moving into your new Lancaster student home, or simply enjoying life here, there’s no shortage of events to check out.

Don’t worry: although the city is only small, there’s still lots happening. Here’s your guide to making the most of summer 2025.

Story Tours

Interested in learning more about Lancaster’s history while you’re living here? Lancaster Museum is now offering Story Tours! “Everyone has a story”, and these diverse tours immerse you in local history by sharing the stories of the people who experienced it first-hand.

Led by expert tour guides and the museum team, you’ll explore the city through some of its most compelling stories. Who knows, you may even walk past your own Lancaster student home! From the Great War and women’s rights to lighthouse keepers, there’s something for everyone. Running both indoors and outdoors throughout the summer, this is a unique experience you won’t want to miss.

Play in the Park

Located at Williamson Park, this year’s Play in the Park by The Dukes is The Wizard of Oz. This unique outdoor theatre experience uses the stunning backdrop of the park as its stage. As you walk through the grounds, you’ll be immersed in natural scenery and brilliant storytelling.

Running from 18th July to 24th August, this is a Lancaster summer highlight. And for those of you living off-campus in student accommodation, Williamson Park is just a short walk or bus ride away from your Lancaster student home.

Dino Fest Lancaster

On the 12th and 13th of July, Lancaster will be taken over by prehistoric pals! In honour of Lancastrian palaeontologist Richard Owen (who coined the term “dinosaur”), the city will host Dino Fest- a weekend packed full of dinosaur-themed fun.

It’s the perfect reason to step outside and into the city centre to enjoy a truly roaring weekend.

Morecambe Music Festival

From the 10th to 13th of July, Morecambe Music Festival is back! One of Morecambe’s most popular events, the festival spans multiple venues and covers just about every genre of music- so there’s something for everyone! Check out the official line-up here.

For students living in off-campus Lancaster city centre student accommodation, Morecambe is just a short journey away by bus or car.

Whatever you’re into this summer, whether it’s music, live shows, the outdoors, or the city’s history, Lancaster has something to offer. Here at Escape Campus, we hope you embrace the opportunities and create some treasured memories right here in Lancaster this summer.
