Light shows from your Lancaster student accommodation

AsherLancaster Student Life

Light up Lancaster’s back for another year and is one of the most popular and exciting events happening in Lancaster! This year the light festival is taking place from Thursday 2nd – Saturday 4th November, trust us this event is not one to be missed.

What is Light Up Lancaster?

An event that takes place every year, Light up Lancaster takes place across a variety of locations across Lancaster city centre turning the night sky into a magical light show. With this year’s theme set as ‘The art of Words’, enjoy a journey through the wonderful festival and discover illuminations, vivid artwork, and a range of interactive experiences. Light up Lancaster is popular with all ages and the best part for all our Lancaster students is that the event is completely free!

Lancaster University is also getting involved this year. Explore a range of exhibits and join in at the Art Fair being held on Saturday the 4th of November. For all those in town centre student accommodation, you should be able to enjoy some of the wonderful light shows right from your window!

How to get there from your Lancaster student accommodation

Light up Lancaster takes place all throughout the town centre. So for students living in Lancaster city centre student accommodation, you should be close to at least one of the events happening over the weekend. Market Square, Judges Lodgings, Kanteena and the Storey Gardens are just a few of the places that will be transformed into a vivid light show.

An excellent selection of street food!

If you do decide to join in the fun, make sure to drop by the Market Square for a spot of street food. Dubbed ‘Magical Market Square’, you can expect a wide range of hot food, cakes and drinks available for you to enjoy.

Also, all of the usual restaurants located within Lancaster Centre will be open and running as usual, so if you don’t fancy any street food, why not treat yourself to a meal out? Better yet- some of the restaurants located within Lancaster Centre even offer student discounts.

Get involved and volunteer

If Light up Lancaster sounds like a great event for you, and you want to take part, they are looking for volunteer stewards to help guide the public, explain the different exhibitions and ensure the safety of everyone attending. To find out more and how to apply click here.
