What’s on in Lancaster!

AsherLancaster Student Life

We are now well into term 2 and as the nights and mornings are getting a little brighter, so too is the weather (or at least we hope). Here at Escape Campus, we’ve put together a list of everything happening this term in Lancaster and its surrounding areas for you to enjoy. Lancaster local events are the perfect excuse to get out of your student home and explore everything the city has to offer.

Baylight Festival

The Baylight Festival is taking place from the 15th to the 17th of February on Morecambe Promenade. A highlight of the winter season, the festival features a light art trail down Morecambe Prom! 2024 sees the festival returning bigger and better than ever, presenting not only a night time parade on Friday night but also a fantastic 21 fascinating art pieces and experiences. Best of all this event is completely free! So all you need to do is make your way there. For those of you who have a car, it’s only a short drive away with lots of places to park. Alternatively, you can hop on a bus from Lancaster bus station, which should only be a short walk away for those living in off-campus student accommodation.

The main event itself starts at 6pm, lasting around 4 hours during which you can explore the interactive light trail, featuring both local and national artists. Once the sun has set, the artwork will come to life, with the stunning views of Morecambe Bay as the backdrop. For more information on the Baylight Festival click here.

Lancaster University Events

For those of you who attend Lancaster University, the Uni itself hosts a range of different events throughout the year. Whether you want to learn a new skill or expand your knowledge, there are many different classes to suit your needs. Including juggling classes, silk painting workshops and even professional development seminars and performances. Checking out the events page here is well worth doing to see if there’s something that interests you!

Lancaster Grand Theatre

Lancaster Grand Theatre has been running since 1782 and is one of Lancaster’s most popular entertainment spots! If you’ve never been, then it’s well worth the trip, even if it’s just once. Whilst it’s currently undergoing renovation works to be modernised, the shows and performances themselves are still running. Hosting a range of different shows almost every night of the week, there’s sure to be at least one performance running that suits everyone’s different needs. Including horror, comedy, singalongs and even magic! the Grand Theatre has some brilliant shows on this term that are most definitely worth a visit.

Whatever you decide to do this Spring, we hope you enjoy it and can experience some of Lancaster’s most popular spots and events.
